Toasted Sesame Green Beans

No ratings yet
This is a really simple side dish and amps up the flavour of the humble green bean. It's super quick and easy. It's worth taking the time to toast the sesame seeds and then grind them up as it intensifies the flavour.

  1. Set up your Egg for a direct cook with your cast iron grid. Set the temperature to 200°C and allow the grid time to come up to temperature.
  2. Trim the ends from the green beans and place in a pan of boiling water on the grid. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes until al dente. These could be cooked indoors on your hob!
  3. In a small frying pan or skillet, toast some sesame seeds until golden brown. Once nicely toasted, place the sesame seeds in a pestle and mortar and grind to a fine consistency.
  4. Add some soy sauce to the sesame seeds to create a paste.
  5. Pour the paste over the beans, add a sprinkling of sesame seeds. Give it a good stir (zhuzh!) and this dish is ready to serve.
