Big Green Egg Cooking Classes

To get the most of your Big Green Egg then why not attend a Big Green Egg cooking class. Whether it’s a class at your home or one of our group classes in Cambridge, either way they’re great fun and you will learn how to get so much more from your Egg, cooking in ways you probably hadn’t even thought of as well as covering all of the basics.

Individual classes

Why not treat yourself to a one-on-one Big Green Egg cooking class.

These can be tailored to your needs and run at your home using your Egg, ingredients from your favourite butchers, green grocers and fish mongers and there’s no need to travel.

We can bring an additional smaller Egg’s so we can try out lots of different methods during the day.

These classes are now outsourced to Julie who runs them as we used to.

Group classes

Group Classes

Our favourite way to deliver a class, is as a group. Not only will you learn from us, but you’ll also learn from the other participants.

Our classes are normally for a maximum of 6 people. We spend the day cooking, eating and having fun while learning many different techniques.

We cook steaks, vegetables, roast chicken, sear racks of lamb, smoked chocolate brownies, tarte tatin, plank smoke some fish, have a steak cooking competition with 6 steaks… You’ll not be going home hungry.

In 2021 we have invested in a Renson Pergola with an electric roof that enables us to make the very best of the weather conditions.

Asian Egg Cooking

My sons bought me the class and only told me it involved barbecuing on an egg. When I arrived I was told the theme was Asian which is right up my street as I was born in Thailand and love Thai cooking! The day was superb - from the initial introduction by Nic to the amazing recipes and cooking techniques from both Nicks and so much delicious food to eat all day not to mention a fridge full of beer and wine! Could not recommend it more highly. I will be back and I live in Surrey!

Egg-Static Day

I've had a BGE for a while but the various set-ups and methods appeared a bit overwhelming. Nic and Helena simplified the entire processes and made everything look so easy and straightforward, giving me the confidence that I wasn't doing things too wrong and demonstrated other new ideas to try.

I would highly recommend this course to anyone with or getting a BGE

Just a quick message to say thanks for a Fab day. I had a really great time, learnt loads, enjoyed some amazing food and spent the day with a great group of people. If I had to give the day marks out of 10, I’d give it 12!!! . I will be looking to book the next level as soon as possible.

Great Day Out

Having arrived not quite knowing what to expect, I have to say that Nic and Helena made everyone feel very welcome and comfortable. The day itself was absolutely first class and extremely educational in the art of cooking on a Kamado. I came away with so much more confidence in what I feel I can now achieve, being a beginner.
If you are reading this review and wondering, then wonder no more and book the course, it truly is an exceptional day and I look forward to returning in the future.

Fantastic day !

My partner surprised me with this Beginners Class as a gift. (not sure if she was trying to tell me something - LOL )

Nic and Helena were fantastic hosts, and their Big Green Egg cooking experience takes you on a journey through the art of smoking mastery. The day takes place at their beautiful house and wonderful garden, where you get to learn from Nic’s incredible knowledge. From setting up the Egg to various cooking methods, including, my favourite, the intriguing “Dirty steak,” it’s no wonder I learned more in one day than years of fumbling around with my own Egg!

And who knew you could smoke a Brownie in an Egg? It was quite the adventure!

If you’re ever looking to expand your smoker skills further, Nic and Helena’s class is definitely worth it.

Great Private Class

What a great day - enjoyable, fun, varied and very informative!

We have an XL BGE and consider ourselves competent cooks on it, cooking all manner of steaks, but also curries, various breads, pizza, etc. But we don't know what we don't know, so booked this one day personal course at home with Julie.

Much better than we could have imagined! Julie produced a huge range of things to cook, including focaccia, tarte tartin, slow cooked beef short ribs, 2 dips (yummy!), steaks many ways, rack of lamb, top rump, salmon on a cedar plank, souvlaki, etc. Was really quite a journey!

And Julie was really helpful and flexible. As we discussed the day, she kept recommending new things to try, which we eagerly accepted. And then, after the day, she e-mailed us all the recipes plus some others that she thought we might like.

Julie even brought her own small egg to supplement our own XL so that we could have two cooking streams on the go at the same time.

Very happy - highly recommended - and will do again!

Brilliant day thanks!

Thanks Nic for a brilliant day at our house on Saturday. Having had Green Egg for a while I was worried about that we wouldn’t learn enough, but we so did! The whole day was entertaining and informative. We discovered what we’ve been doing wrong and how to solve some of the cooking problems we sometimes experienced as well as trying new techniques. The food was amazing and it felt like we’d known you for years. The six of us thoroughly enjoyed it and you have inspired a whole new season of cooking. Cheers!

BBQing at its Best!!!

What a fantastic experience! Having recently bought a BGE, Nic came highly recommend. He did not disappoint. Nic talked me through a number of aspects of cooking - from the “science of bbqing” to the practical aspects with tips and hints along the way. The variety of the meats and cooking techniques were brilliant and I look forward to recreating many of these. Our guests had a brilliant time and Nic is very easy going and fun. Brilliant

We were fortunate enough to host Nic at our house for the class. It was worth every penny and should be a compulsory part of acquiring a BGE to explore its full potential - quite apart from being highly enjoyable and delicious. Nic is a born teacher with huge amounts of energy and knowledge about many aspects of cooking, not just on the Egg. It was great fun, our guests were full of praise and one is now starting to eat meat again! Having said that, the vegetarian courses were equally fabulous. One of the most impressive aspects was the lack sauces or marinades to bring out the meat flavours on the day. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Many thanks, Nic.

The Best

We have had our Big Green Egg for 5 years and I seriously cannot believe it's taken us this long to book such an incredible session with Nic. It was the best day, so much fun and so much banter. Nic's energy and knowledge was absolutely amazing. If you own and enjoy cooking on a BGE you are genuinely selling yourself short by not arranging a group lesson with him, trust me. Cheers, Nic. The class with Nic was excellent and proved to be a very enjoyable day. Pre-class preparation was clear so we had all the ingredients ready and wasted no time. The day was well thought through so we covered a wide range of cooking techniques and enjoyed a very tasty lunch. Instruction was very interactive and allowed flexibility in the demonstrations to answer specific questions as they arose. The outcome was a much better understanding of how to control the Egg and it's capabilities and how to exploit the full range of cooking techniques which would have taken many weeks/months to cover without the class. Above all, a fun day and I hope to have a repeat class in the future.

Big Green Egg Day

This was one of my 70th birthday presents and it was a great day in our garden. I learnt so much about cooking on my egg. Nic is a natural and so enthusiastic about cooking. We spent all afternoon cooking and eating mouth watering food. Nic makes it all fun.
We have subsequently cooked our rib eyes direct on the coals as recommended by Nic. They are a whole new experience. This is the only way to cook steaks for me now.
