Private Big Green Egg Cooking Classes
BIG GREEN EGG PRIVATE COOKING CLASses
Why not treat your family – or even some friends to a private day of BGE cooking. Perfect as a present or just to make you feel more confident with your own EGG.
These classes are now run by Julie, as Nic is concentrating on the group classes. Julie and Nic worked together at Big Green Egg and Julie has a background in professional catering.
You’ll spend the day together cooking a number of fantastic recipes which will help to boost your confidence and open your eyes to the EGG’s versatility.
The day starts at 9.30 and we will aim to finish at approximately 5.30. There will be plenty to eat so why not invite up to 5 friends to join you.
If you want a class with Nic, you’ll have to join one of the group classes.
Note: Julie runs her own business. Private classes are not delivered by Meat Smoke Fire, but Julie does use our recipes and techniques.
Suggested Course Content
Our suggested class content is as follows but of course, this can be tailored to your needs:
- Reverse Searing – Slow cooking a Picanha (Beef Rump Cap).
- Searing – Cooking steak two or three ways.
- Plank smoking – Hot smoking a salmon fillet on a wooden plank.
- Plancha cooking – Roasted rack of lamb and roasted cauliflower.
- Baking – Rosemary and Maldon Salt focaccia.
- Pan cooking – Apple or flat peach tarte tatin, or maybe smoked chocolate brownie.
The classes are designed to show you a few simple recipes that use the Egg in very different setups. You can then take what you have learned and adapt it to your own cooks.
Classes start at 10:00 am but we’ll arrive at 9:30 am to get everything set up. We normally bring a second smaller Egg so that we can do a little bit of multitasking. We aim to finish at around 5:30 pm but sometimes we can go on beyond this.
Once the course content has been agreed we will give you a full list of ingredients so that you can source them from your favourite shops. We also ask that you provide charcoal and parking.
The cost of the class starts at £600 which covers Julie’s time and some travel of up to 1 hour 30 minutes. An additional charge may be agreed for travel over 1 hour 30 minutes. Julie lives in Stockbridge, Hampshire.

Julie visited us in the cold and wet of November, but once the egg and food started coming that didn't make a difference at all. Julie is as brilliant at her craft as she brilliant company. Really focused on teaching us the techniques we had planned and more, while being more like a good friend than a tutor. Can't recommend her and the class enough.
What an amazing day we had with Julie; my family and I loved learning so much about how to cook absolutely delicious food on a BGE. Julie was great fun and an inspiring teacher - don’t hesitate to book this in if you have the chance.
We bought our first Big Green Egg recently, but knowing how to use it for different types of cooking was a bit daunting! My husband, 3 children and I had a really fun day with Julie and she made sure that everyone got involved with the food prep/cooking. We made/cooked loads and learnt lots along the way: salmon, chicken souvlaki, focaccia, baba ganoush, roasted cauliflower, paella, pizza, churros with chocolate sauce and also cooked a few shop bought burgers and sausages!
Having Julie over to us for the day was not only great fun and educational, but she was also able to demonstrate what a brilliant and versatile piece of kit the BGE is! It has given us the confidence not only to cook the food we made with Julie again, but also to try new things (and impress our guests!). Thank you so much Julie! We hope to see you again x 😊.
I attended one of Julie’s classes on Fri 18 Aug 23. Well what can I say except AWESOME. It was worth every £ & the information & top tips were superb. The course was hands on & I have learnt so much. I highly recommend this course to anyone with BGE or anything similar. I cannot wait to get experimenting & will certainly be looking a private home class in the future.

Having been a big green egg owner for over 10 years I probably thought I knew a lot about the egg possibilities having done most things including the Christmas turkey for the last few years but let me tell you Julie taught me more in one day than I have in previous 10 years.
Cannot recommend a private day more we had our adult children involved and could have fed half the street.
We had the most amazing day with Julie, we learnt so much about different method of cooking on the egg, different sauces, puddings and bread, meats etc.. such a fun day with the odd tipple of tequila and an impromptu game of cricket.

What’s fantastic day with Julie from start to finish. A full day on the Egg , no better way to spend on Sunday and the food, wow! Couldn’t recommend highly enough to anyone considering the cooking class.
Just wanted to say a huge thank you for Friday. We all had such a wonderful day and ate the most amazing meat. Rupert cooked kebabs and veg on the big egg last night aswell and he loved it 🙌 as well as the food tasting amazing 😊
