Private Big Green Egg Cooking Class

Private Big Green Egg Cooking Class

Whether you’ve just started cooking with your Big Green Egg or you’re a seasoned Egger, we can design a private Big Green Egg cooking class to meet your needs.

The Egg is a phenomenal piece of cooking equipment that can be used in so many ways. These classes are designed around you to show you the various different cooking techniques, and Egg setups, to enable you to get more from your Egg.

A typical class would cover the following cooking techniques:

  • Searing – cooked on the cast iron grid or directly on the charcoal, stunning steaks better than if you were eating out.
  • Reverse searing – a technique used to serve stunning thicker steaks or joints where you might want it cooked rare, or medium rare edge to edge.
  • Plank cooking – using wooden planks to cook and smoke food at the same time. This is a superb way to cook more delicate foods like fillets of fish.
  • Baking – whether it’s a crispy focaccia or a gooey smoked chocolate brownie the Egg produces great results.
  • Roasting – a Sunday beef joint, a piece of belly pork cracked edge to egde or even a humble cauliflower, they all really benefit from the Eggs superior
  • Plancha cooking – perfect roast racks of lamb or seared vegetables, both benefit from being cooked on either a ceramic or metal
  • Smoking – using wood chips or chunks to add that BBQ depth of flavour to your cook.

The Egg is perfectly suited to doing low and slow cooks where you might cook a joint of meat for up to 20 hours, certainly cooking it overnight. Obviously this would make for a very dull cooking class if we were to do it but we will spend time talking about how to go about one of these cooks. In doing this we’ll discuss the science behind the cook including formation of bark on the outside of your meat, the stall or plateaux and the breakdown of connective tissue. With this information you’ll be able to plan longer cooks and give yourself loads of time to spend with your guests.

The Details

Ahead of the class

We’ll plan the class to meet your needs. We’ll pull together a shopping list of all the ingredients for you to go and purchase from your favourite suppliers.

The day of the class

On the day of the class I will come to you, arriving for around 9:30am. I’ll use the first 30 minutes to get setup. I’ll bring with me a Big Green Egg MiniMax and all of my cooking tools.

The class will kick off at 10am and run normally until around 5pm. Sometimes we may go beyond 5pm if there have been a lot of questions or we’ve just been having too much fun (a regular occurrence).

Vouchers as a present

We are able to send you a PDF document  to either send or print for a loved on should you wish to buy a class for them.

Costs

The price of the private class is £350 for the day. This includes travelling costs within 50 miles of Cambridge. If you live further affield then we can discuss this, I’ve run several classes much further from home.

You will provide all ingredients and charcoal for the class.
