Histon Hornets U11 Girls

Histon Hornets U11 Girls

I was approached earlier this year to see if one of the companies I work for would be interested in sponsoring the Histon Hornets U11 Girls team for the 2018/2019 season. I asked what was required and decided it would be a nice thing to do and give something back to my local village. While we don’t have children, two of the players on this team are the daughters of great friends of mine.

Supporting the Kick Cancer Cup

On Thursday 27th September, the team were asked to be mascots to one of the teams playing in the Kick Cancer Cup. The cup is a ladies charity football match held annually to raise funds for the Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust who provide vital oncology care for Addenbrookes and Arthur Rank Hospice. Those of you that know me know my mum spent a lot of time in the oncology ward at Addenbrookes over the time she fought her battle with cancer, so it was a fitting event for them to be wearing my company logo at.

My Mum never got to see me leave my career in IT and setup Meat Smoke Fire, She’d have been really excited about me being involved with Big Green Egg barbecues and giving cooking lessons on them, it was a passion of mine, something I probably took from her as she loved to cook.

If you’d like to support this event then there is a just giving page.
