Big Green Egg Dimensions
If you are thinking about building an outdoor kitchen for your Big Green Egg, you are going to need the dimensions of the Egg in order to sit it properly. Key things to bear in mind are:
- The Egg needs to sit on a non-combustible surface, preferably a table nest. A paving slab sitting on a wooden support isn’t good enough. I have personally seen this setup when maintaining an Egg, and the wooden support had almost burned through. The table nest will lift your Egg a further 5cm (50mm).
- The height of the Egg – we like the gasket of our Eggs to be at about 100cm-114cm from the ground, and the work surface to be at 90cm from the ground. Having your Egg flush with the table surface can restrict the accessories you can use. The rotisserie for example needs the motor to be mounted above the table surace.Â
- The space behind the Egg – The dome opens backward and downwards. Make sure you have factored this in. I have visited an installation where it was impossible to physically open the Egg. Even the WWOO outdoor kitchen required the Egg to be mounted at an angle in order for the Egg to open.
We have already written a page dedicated to the XL and Large Big Green Egg Table Plans.Â
