Grill, sear, smoke, roast, bake, pan cook and rotisserie, all on one Egg. The thick ceramic holds heat like a wood-fired oven, and two vents set the temperature: more air for a hotter fire, less for a cooler one. Master the vents and you're 90% there.

Dual Zone cooking, in the box
Every new Large comes with the Dual Zone Deflector Kit: a metal basket that holds one or two ceramic half-moon heat deflectors. One kit gives you three set-ups:
- No deflectors: the whole Egg cooks direct, over the coals, for searing and grilling
- Both deflectors: the whole Egg cooks indirect, like an oven, for roasting, baking and low and slow
- One deflector: half direct and half indirect, at the same time
That last set-up is where it gets interesting. Roast a chicken on the indirect side while you char vegetables over the coals, or reverse sear a steak: cook it gently on the indirect side, then finish it over the fire. The two Dual Zone Half Grids sit over the basket, one over each zone.
You don't need to buy anything extra to cook this way. It's all in the box, and we're always happy to talk you through it.
Is the Large right for you?
It's our go-to Egg. We taught our classes on the Large and have cooked just about everything on one. If we could only have one Egg, this would be it.
Think about how many you cook for most weeks, not the one big party a year. For a family of four who entertain a few times a year, the Large is the one we recommend. You can still feed 20 or 30 on it: cook one or two dishes really well rather than a mountain of burgers.
Or would another size suit you better?
The XL if you regularly cook for six or more, or you want whole briskets and lots of racks of ribs every weekend. Bear in mind those big cooks use more charcoal.
The MiniMax if you usually cook for two, you're short on space, or you want to take it away with you. It also makes a great second Egg alongside a Large.

Why we're different
Nic spent a decade working with Big Green Egg, recruiting resellers and demonstrating the Egg at shows, before he and Helena set up Meat Smoke Fire in Cambridge. We're the only Big Green Egg reseller regularly cooking live online, and most other resellers don't have our cooking experience.

Delivery
Your Egg comes with exactly the same free standard delivery as buying direct:
- Free to mainland UK addresses
- Delivered on a date you choose, usually within 5 to 7 working days
- Kerbside, on a pallet, from a lorry with a tail lift, so you'll need an extra pair of hands to move it into the garden
- Check your Egg before you sign for it, and note any damage on the delivery note
- Surcharges apply to some areas, including Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands and islands, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man
Within an hour of Cambridge? Buy your Large and a base from us and we'll install it for free with our White Glove service, then take the pallet away.
Warranty
Exactly the same Big Green Egg warranty as buying direct, for as long as you own the Egg:
- Lifetime: the ceramic base, dome, firebox and fire ring
- 5 years: the metal parts, including the bands, hinge, rEGGulator, fire grate, draft door, stainless steel grids and the Dual Zone deflector basket
- 3 years: the ceramic half-moon deflectors
- 1 year: the gasket and the Tel-Tru thermometer

Why can't I add the Large to my basket?

Do I need a base for the Large?

How much charcoal does the Large use?
Very little. The thick ceramic is so well insulated that the Large can cook for up to 24 hours on one load, and it burns far less than a metal grill. Use good lumpwood: see our charcoal guide.
