Toasted Sesame Green Beans
This is a really simple side dish and amps up the flavour of the humble green bean. Â It’s super quick and easy. Â It’s worth taking the time to toast the sesame seeds and then grind them up as it intensifies the flavour.Â

Ingredients
- 1/2 pack of green beans
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- additional sprinkling of sesame seeds
Method
- Set up your Egg for a direct cook with your cast iron grid. Set the temperature to 200°C and allow the grid time to come up to temperature.
- Trim the ends from the green beans and place in a pan of boiling water on the grid. Â Cook for 5 to 7 minutes until al dente. Â These could be cooked indoors on your hob!
- In a small frying pan or skillet, toast some sesame seeds until golden brown. Â Once nicely toasted, place the sesame seeds in a pestle and mortar and grind to a fine consistency.
- Add some soy sauce to the sesame seeds to create a paste.
- Pour the paste over the beans, add a sprinkling of sesame seeds. Â Give it a good stir (zhuzh!) and this dish is ready to serve.
