Jalapeño Candied Bacon Bites
Spicy, sweet, crispy, gooey, and with bacon, is there a better snack? Everything bacon is amazing. Candied bacon with Jalapeño is just stunning. A heavenly combination of salty streaky bacon, sweet sugar and honey and gentle heat from the jalapeño peppers.
We’ve made candied bacon before, but this time, we’ve added some Jalapeños. These add some lovely spiciness to these treats. They’re quick to make taking just 15 minutes to cook on the Big Green Egg..

Ingredients
- 2-3 tbsp veg oil
- 8 rashers of streaky bacon
- 4 jalapeno peppers, finely sliced
- 4 tsp brown sugar
- honey to drizzle
- Tajin or rub of your choice, optional
Method
- Setup your Big Green Egg for an indirect cook with the ConvEGGtor (plate setter) feet up and stainless steel grid on top. Set the temp to 200°C.
- Put a drizzle of oil on a baking tray and lay out your rashers of bacon side by side.
- Sprinkle half a teaspoon of brown sugar over each rasher.
- Place 4 slices of jalapeno on each rasher of bacon.
- Then drizzle over some honey and a little oil.
- We finished with a shake of Tajin Classico Seasoning, you could use a rub of your choice.
- Bake for about 15 minutes until the bacon is crispy and the sugar and honey have started to caramelise.
- Remove from the tray with a spatula knife and place on some baking parchment to cool. Note they’re pretty sticky.
- These are delicious as a snack or we served them with some cornbread and a dollop of sour cream. Alternatively, cut the rashers in half and you’ve got some great finger food.
